Background:
My wife is up to date on the anime. I watched all of the Marineford Arc with her, as well as the Wano Arc. I caught some things here and there as well, just decided fuck it and figured I would watch all the way through. Currently around episode 394.
At the current, my personal ranking of the crew is as follows:
- Luffy - I mean, the dude is just awesome. A wonderful mix of kinda childish while ultimately doing the right thing regardless of his own personal reasoning.
- Robin - Tragic backstory, complex characterization, beautiful lady? Also her devil fruit power is awesome.
- Chopper - C'mon you stupid idiot, how can you not love him?
- Brook - I find his version of levity towards the ladies far more fun than Sanji, and his backstory was wonderful. Yohohoho, yo hoho-hooooo!
- Zoro - Standard badass, love it.
- Nami - She gets better as the series goes on for sure, though she doesn't crack the top 5 for me currently.
- Frankie - Cool story arc to introduce him to the crew, but as far as I remember he doesn't really grow after that. He also basically becomes a robot post time-skip
- Usopp - He got better than the lowest spot and he does get better and better as the show goes on. I could see him popping into a higher spot if they really play up his crafty ability and he becomes a tad bit less of a coward. I want him to become more of a "I know I'm not a fucking god, but I can fight a god" type.
- Sanji - Honestly, I kinda hate him. I'm vaguely aware of some of his backstory and that he has a pretty good redemption in Whole Cake Arc or whatever it is called, but then it feels totally tossed aside again in Wano. I get it, he is chivalrous. It's annoying and it is done to such a degree it bothers me. =/
Currently in Sabaody, Raleigh just knocked out that auctioneer guy with his Conquerer's Haki. Raleigh, yeah!
