Theres one scene where Luffy smashes into Ace and Smoker in Alabasta and takes them by surprise, but its also a gag scene. But for the most part Logia intangibility seems like auto-defence. At the chapter we are currently at it hasnt been defined either way and I imagine it never will be Jeff_AKA_Snoopy posted... Well in all those instances it wasn't really named or explained all that much, at least in so far as I remember it. Definitely wasnt explained. I dont think youre supposed to know what Haki is yet. It just becomes more prevalent during the next few arcs. Youll know when youre supposed to know what it is.
