Kind of, yeah. It's mostly just small rules changes here and there but ends up amounting to a really enormous switch-up. Importantly these changes means that all of the content from each don't slot into each other and because 3.5 is the one that was "the current one" for so long that means that the overwhelmjngly massive amount of the content is for it and would require that you do a ton of legwork to get all of the official stuff from the era compatible (let alone the billions of homebrew creations for 3.5).

Pathfinder versus 3.5, however, is a bit more up in the air. Yeah Pathfinder is "updated 3.5" but there is enough reason to stick to 3.5 that you can go that route if you want to. Where all changes 3.0->3.5 are positive (if you are fine with cheeky OP nonsense not being as available) there are some from 3.5->Pathfinder that can at least be somewhat chalked up to personal preferences.
