ngl, with everyone we've been through as a society lately and with how much of this shit i've seen in my life at this point, i find it extremely difficult to get excited these days for new games like GTA and Saints Row and that style where you can just shoot any civilian at any time. it just doesn't sit right with me anymore, whereas i used to not think about it at all when i was younger.

not saying that it shouldn't be allowed though.

This is why I've been kinda getting into LA Noire lately, it's a sandbox game that encourages me to not play like a psychopath for once.

In a similar vein, one thing I like about the Yakuza franchise is that you're never the instigator in street fights, you only ever defend yourself or other civilians. And the protagonists never kill people when they don't absolutely have to, because death is a very serious thing and given the dramatic weight that it deserves. This video is a great example of that philosophy:
