Because it's hypocritically considered socially acceptable to do so. I'm not a Christian or religious at all, but it really irks me that Christianity is so commonly attacked and denigrated while other mainstream religions are often fervently defended by the same people attacking Christianity.

Christianity in some countries at least is not under attack. It's just that people are no longer willing to allow organized religion to get away with cruelty, hypocrisy, power trips, and willful ignorance anymore.

I always roll my eyes whenever people whine about how oppressed they are as Christians. They can take a good long look at minorities who are killed in other countries, and maybe take a good long look at the people they themselves would like to actively oppress. Again, it's not all Christians who are like this, just the self righteous blow hards.
