#226:

I'll try watching that video later; I meant to last night, but I forgot. Three songs for now; not sure exactly how many we'll get through, but hoping to reach 10,

#588: Kimihiro Abe - Ephemeral Glory A (4:18):

Nominator: Haste [17/31 Remaining]

Initial Score: 53.74
Revised Score: 51.67
Final Score: 56.80

(First Reaction: Japanese Forest music. Pretty neat! Not the greatest ambiance, but still enjoyable.)

I'm less into this song on the relisten... perhaps I'm just not in the mood to imagine walking through a forest, maybe it's just slower than I want right now, and maybe it's just unfortunate timing making it seem worse because the four most recent songs I've listened to have been notably better than I remembered, while this one is not. Either way... it's fine, but not really something I want to listen to right now and I don't feel the ambiance coming through as clearly as I did the first time.

[Final Thoughts: Ahh, there's that ambiance that I wasn't feeling the second time around. I'm aparently in the right mood for this and kinda like it tonight.]

-...did I mess up the numbering somewhere again? This says we're very close to 200 songs eliminated, but that doesn't feel right.-

#587: The Dear Hunter - The Flame (Is Gone) (5:40):
https://open.spotify.com/track/3Ip32MKrUoZCa0sQUG8KFJ?si=d8043ee6bfe64a62

Nominator: NBIceman [18/22 Remaining]

Initial Score: 62.14
Revised Score: 62.14
Final Score: 56.94

(First Reaction: A pretty good villain song. I do like the increased number of villain songs, though I'm not as into Mr. Usher at the moment.)

!The album doesn't really do a good job of making me care about Mr. Usher and I've never thought much about Ms. Leading at all, so from a story standpoint, this song is just "okay" for me... personally, I don't really care if Usher & Pimpin' Priest murder her, soo....

....thankfully, the song is good enough that I think it stands on its own merits well enough. I like the song and enjoy listening to it.

[Final Thoughts: I do still kinda like this, but it's another track that I'm bouncing off of tonight. Without having much interest in the villainy on display here, I'm finding it harder to get very invested in the song. It's good and I still kinda like it, but I think there are quite a few songs in the 55+ level that I'm more attached to than this song.]

[Later: It is a good song, but I'm just not clicking with it as of late.]

-Eh, I'll post an update when we allegedly get to 200 songs eliminated and see if the other numbers are checking out correctly. Either way, we're gong up to the 57 point level!-

#586: Price Is Right Losing Horn [0:05]:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XVGg3atDdU8

Nominator: paulg [32/52 Remaining]

Initial Score: 53.76
Revised Score: 53.76
Final Score: 57.03

(First Reaction: It's iconic and perfect for what it is, but I don't think it's something I'd really choose to listen to or have any strong feelings towards.)

One of the most memorable and iconic "failure sounds" from any media and a masterclass in conveying things musically without wasting a single note, but not something I'd really choose to listen to. I don't have any nostalgia or positive feelings associated with the sound to make up for the fact that it's so incredibly short. It's fantastic for what it is, just not really much of a "song" here to listen to or rank & also no real flashbacks or anything to talk about either.

[Final Thoughts: Alright, I guess I kinda like this? I mean, it is one of the most iconic failure sounds in history, so that's probably worth something. Without any personal connection to the show or anything though, this can't get a lot of points for nostalgia -and- it's too short to really work as an actual song, so there's a hard limit on how far I want to carry it. High 50's feels like it's about the limit for this song.]

[Later: ...Is it ironic to usher in the start of a new whole point value with the sound of failure?]
