I won't lie, I do think ASP has some issues, but she's a really good writer. I do think the show lost some of its luster during the Yale years, especially when I believe she tanked the show in season 6 out of pettiness for not getting to return. Despite that, the first few seasons, or the Chilton era as I like to call it, are very captivating.

Although, and I'm not about to give an original thought since the internet has already established this long before me, the entirety of the show (including AYitL) is a very great character study of the "gifted small-town child" with Rory as a focus. Some may hate she never really became something, but honestly, so many of us can probably relate to her (besides the Yale and rich grandparents thing, but I mean, it's still a TV show so what can I say), even if we don't want to. I have to imagine that many of us were the "Rorys" of our family.
