The last Congress officially ended, which marked the end of the Speakers' term as well. It's one of those weird in-between things, where for a few moments, America technically doesn't have a speaker, but we never think of it because it's not something to think about. It's the same thing with the president, as there's a moment between the last president officially leaving office, and the president-elect being sworn in, so there's a period of time (minutes to maybe a few hours) where America has no president every 4 years.
