The Oscars need better standards and have for a while. She sounds so Cuban the entire movie that it breaks some of the immersion Which is why I was baffled by her being cast, even though she's attractive. Sure, she plays opposite personalities in Knives Out and No Time to Die - and I love her in those - but she definitely sounds Cuban in both. It can be hard to shake your accent entirely; relatedly, I'm sure Daniel Craig gave her pointers... but he has a very weird accent as Benoit Blanc and I think that's largely due to him being British.
