How do even learn a language and retain it if you arent immersed in it?

Thats the tough part. Tbh. Eventually I want to just move to France. I feel like thats the best way since America doesnt care about any language but English for kids.

My friend uses an app called HelloTalk which apparently lets you find foreign penpals who establish a mutually benefiting relationship. Youd help them with English potentially or theyd help you with a language.

i was thinking of doing so to learn translation but you have to be better than i thought at the target language. so idk

what language are you learning?

French. I at least get examples of how to pronounce things. Which is the tough part for me. Duolingo has normal talking speed, but you can also slow sentences down word by word to get an understanding.
