Because that IS what you would get. Exactly. The Mario movie was fine and pretty inoffensive. If they did a Zelda movie like this I'd get actually mad. Mario is flexible, I don't think Illumination is capable of committing hard to an aesthetic or vibe that other Nintendo series rely on. I was thinking about this after I left the theater but the Sonic movies felt more "authentic" to the games for that reason. Yeah they're a mess and have a ton of corporate meddling but they're fun despite that and that's uh. Kind of the whole deal with Sonic games. Also the best part of both movies are Jim Carrey and Jack Black who totally commit to the bit --- I definitely did not forget to put the 2020 GOTD Guru winner, azuarc in my sig! ...
