And should I buy that house early on? It's 3,000 rupees.
Yes. It's a free full heal + you can store 3 weapons, three shields and three arrows and once you start coming across good stuff, it comes in handy. It is totally worth the investment. Every stable, buy the arrows from Beadle. Enemies shoot arrows, if they don't hit you, you can collect them. With proper fighting and exploring, you'll eventually get a fuck you amount.

Best early stage is stealth you buy at Kakarko, and also try to seek out the climbing gear (your climbing speed increases) You always want to find a full set, and once you upgrade it twice, most armors will give you additional benefits. Just as an example, if you upgrade the stealth armor twice, at night, you move much faster. Treat this game like a turnbased RPG, prepare. Plan. If something seems frustrating, come back with proper equipment. The armor Impa gives you during the start of the memory quest serves as solid armor, it really ramps up in defense quickly but it is harder to upgrade. Get a hammer, pay attention to the spawn points and seek out ores. Ores is how you make money, money is good, cause money gets you armor, upgrades. Do not stress out about doing every quest, as far as I know, there are no missable ones. Try to seek out the ancient lab and follow that quest line so you can fully upgrade your Shekiah Slate. Do not stress out about weapons breaking, you will pick up so much, and as long as you experiment, you're good.

Every single town and stable has a shrine you can warp to, seek those first when discovering a town. Don't sweat doing the divine beasts. Get strong and discover shrines first, that's in my opinion the best way to play.

Vague spoilers: For Story reasons, you need 14 hearts, and no, you cannot cook and boost them. The additional hearts from that do not count. A lot of players say focus on stamina first, but I disagree. You can cook and prepare a lot of stamina replinishing elixers and dishes, and even extend your wheel seamlessly. It makes more sense to upgrade Stamina once, seek out the climbing gear, and then spend the rest of the shrines upgrading the hearts.
