I consider them badges of honour. It's worthwhile in instances where somebody is making a habit of harassing somebody else, particularly if they're saying things that are objectionable enough to generate discussion (meaning simply ignoring them doesn't prevent them from maliciously derailing topics). It is quite frequently just used for trolling, though. Which ignore already takes care of.
