It seems rarer than things falling off. Like, Mass Effect 1 got way stronger after ME2 came out, but that doesn't feel like the spirit of what this topic is asking. Dark Souls and Bloodborne probably qualify but I think that was more GameFAQs catching up to the rest of the gaming sphere.
