Karlach is also good oriented so you could definitely do that that. If you need to find her there's some decent videos on YouTube, or you can get a quest from Wyll that leads you to her. (It might be best to not have him in the party when you pick her up though)

If you still wanna go Paladin though, one thing you can do if you're comfortable with multiclassing is split the support duty between yourself and shadowheart while you muticlass Shadowheart between a Trickery Cleric and a Theif Rogue.

That way she takes care of a good chunk of the support while covering utility.
