This seems to conveniently correlate to many hugs i didnt want to give and was just being nice i just happened to go right. It felt i could give a weaker more distanced hug.

But any hug i really wanted to give with no social awkwardness like a romantic hug that the other person also wanted i didnt give it much thought and went left to "cross" bodies and give a deeper more emotional hug.

I guess this is a coincidental explanation for my experiences with hugs...
