We obviously haven't advanced at the pace that humanity does in Sci Fi, but we have a lot of cool technology compared to say, the 90's.

Like with mobile phones, this was what they looked like at first

Cellphones are futuristic as hell compared to that brick.

Cars have also advanced a lot. We don't have fully self driving cars yet or anything. But adaptive cruise control maintains a set speed, and it will brake on it's own of it detects a car getting too close ahead. Combine that with lane assist, which auto steers the car to keep it within a lane, and there's really minimal input required from the driver on long drives. And this technology available on Hondas, Toyotas etc., (take that Elon) so we're getting there.
