He never said I invented the internet and if you dont misconstrue his words it was obvious what he meant, and what he said was true What is the point of this reply? I posted exactly what he said and two quotes from people detailing exactly what he meant. Did you think I misunderstood something? I also never stated he said "I invented the internet". Just that it and "I took the initiative in creating the internet" are similar phrases which is how it became such a meme in the first place. He himself joked about it years later: Gore, himself, would later poke fun at the controversy. In 2000, while on the Late Show with David Letterman he read Letterman's Top 10 List (which for this show was called, "Top Ten Rejected Gore Lieberman Campaign Slogans") to the audience. Number nine on the list was: "Remember, America, I gave you the Internet, and I can take it away!" --- "History Is Much Like An Endless Waltz.
