YoBlazer 10/20/23 12:02:08 PM #412: | The potential for voting strategies are at least interesting. It's already been reported that some Republicans intentionally "staggered" their Not Jordan votes so as to make him lose support over time and quash his momentum (he's had negative momentum thus far).
I wonder if Democrats have thought to employ similar strategies by simply not showing up. There are 433 House Reps at the moment, and 212 are Democrats. Jeffries has been getting a guaranteed 212 every time. They could try to goad the Republicans into not showing up to future votes by... not showing up themselves and giving the Republicans a sense of security. Unless I've missed some rule, if ten Republicans are absent for a vote while Jeffries gets his full 212, he becomes the speaker. --- Burnin, Blazin ... Copied to Clipboard! |
