They laid it on thick with Love and Thuder but I was hoping they could find a happy medium in 5. Shame Taika won't be returning. I don't know if I fully agree that he wasn't interesting in the least bit, but his stocks definitely went up after Ragnarok. I'd like to think, considering the Russo Brothers were the ones behind IW/EG Thor, that someone can keep the blueprints that Taika set up, but perhaps find that happy medium as you suggested. I don't think Thor 4 is flat-out terrible either, just a little much, and maybe a little wasted in its premise.
