theres specific recipes. The game keeps a count of what you sell and clears it when you achieve a recipe and leave the bazaar. Because of this you can game the system

ie: Recipe 1: 2A + 1B
Recipe 2: 1B + 2C
if you sell 2A, 1B, 2C then youll achieve both recipes

I've been wandering around and fighting wolves in the desert.
But I only have Vaan, so anything I do is going to be slower than it'd be after I play up to the point where I get some more party members. I think I'll do that.

I think if you fight the Werewolves in the west desert they drop a pretty OP sword (although you may have to steal it I dont remember)

I also recommend the Zodiac Age. Since its got 4x speed
