What is cod these days? Is this really a remaster of the earlier games or are they just using the name?

Since no one's answering these, I guess I have to.

It's a reboot, though arguably for the worse. I haven't played new MW2 or MW3 though.

Spoilers.
-Ghost lives, but practically upstages Soap as the deuteragonist. Gaz also lives.
-Shephard still betrays the team, but both his motive and circumstances are way worse. Long story short, no nuke bombed his men, so instead, he... does illegal arms dealing and needs to cover it up?
-Soap still dies, and super anticlimactically at the end of this game. One of the many reasons people are shitting on the game.
