the average homicide rate in US is higher than Europe.
but still Latin America and Africa have even higher.

remember that the highest amount of murdering in the US happened during 1970-1980s. and lowest was 1950 and 2010 afaik.

then you have some of those really high cities with large murder rates which make it much worse.
