eh, I get what tazzy is trying to say

you can have a policy that is 100% consistent from day 1 and yet is internally/logically inconsistent. like, uh, "no running in the school halls unless you're on your way to or from music class." not a great example but you get the idea. it could be the policy from the first day of school, but it's still internally inconsistent, because if running down the hall is bad then you should just ban it altogether, and singling out music class is entirely arbitrary.

we can argue whether singling out the anthem is similarly arbitrary, but it's not such a wild stance to take

In that way, it may be a bit internally inconsistent, sure. But he was trying to say Jones kneeling with the players before the anthem was what made it inconsistent, which is what I think most of us are disagreeing with.

Jones can have the rule yet still show unity without being hypocritical. He took a knee with them to basically go "Look, I support you guys," but it's not really supporting the protest itself. That specific protest, which is taking a knee during the anthem, is something he was always against. But it's entirely possibly to be against that specific protest, yet still support the players overall.
