The problem here is that Pixar is just making sequels for the sake of it. At least the first two movies you mentioned were actually planned sequels, which helped to build a premise. Even when I'm in the minority who actually liked Cars 2 and prefers Monsters University over Monsters Inc. (I've yet to watch Finding Dory), it's still safe to say that Pixar has been perceived to drop in quality a few times because of its sequels.


Both Toy Story sequels are better than the original. They took almost 15 years between Incredibles sequels. I think after Toy Story 4 they are doing like 3 straight original films, too.

The Cars movies basically bankroll them for all the time they take making good movies, which is fine by me.
