Wow, i thought everyone, or most everyone would hop aboard the free drug train. I do agree some drugs, like heroin, are very negative and cause harm, but I don't think we are accomplishing much by making them illegal.

If drugs where actually legal, we could steer people towards the less dangerous/addictive ones and hopefully at least prevent some people from doing the really hard drugs eventually. Even if that was not the case, I still think the resources are spent better in rehab etc, then trying to prevent people from getting drugs at all by making them illegal.

It seems, from my admittedly limited experience, that you can pretty much still get any drugs you want, it might cost a bit more since it's illegal, and there is some risk involved obviously (which is part of the reason for the cost), but people who want drugs seems to be able to get them, and often are supporting criminals (like murderers etc) in the process.

Would I do the drugs if they were legal? Probably some, just "party" drugs to have more fun when hanging with friends etc. Nothing hard core like heroin, and not even coke etc. I don't really need that to have a good time.

I just think that the war on drugs is sorta like a parent telling their child not to date someone, it just makes that person more attractive, and makes it more likely the child will actually date them.

If nothing else making drugs legal and taxing them could help with the deficit, although at this point the money would probably just go to the rich anyway.
