she used to be super bitter/cynical about human relationships in general. like a few years ago there was a topic "isn't it romantic to kiss your lover to ring in the new year" and she had no end of mockery for that. or when Santa moved across the country to be with his then-girlfriend, she gave him a ton of flak.
but when Maria came back to the board, she made a point of coming back to Santa and telling him that she was happy they'd found happiness together. 'vindicated' Santa is how she put it. (and then Santa and his wife broke up. but that is BESIDE THE POINT.) so yeah it's my impression that your writeup doesn't really apply to Maria any more.
