I like to give people the benefit of the doubt, but the more I witness Ulti's behavior, the harder it seems to me to think of him as anyone other than a darkly hateful individual. Not for his politics, but his lack of politics. They shift as if he wants to be a singular chameleon, always on the right side of an argument to be the victim. One of the worst aspects of the board for me has been Ulti endorsing me as a good user - I think that sealed the deal for me that I am, in fact, not. If he believes himself to be the definition of a good user and yet thinks that lying and manipulating people to constantly give him more chances so he can sucker them into having further debate with him just so he can pull the rug out from under them to laugh, then I know that whatever I am, it's not a good user.

I like Steiner in a one-on-one setting. I think that if I had time to get to know him better, we could be friends. He has a great patter to his verbal conversations. The problem is that we don't move in the same circle that often so the isolation for me breeds a general brusque attitude. His acerbic and dry wit (as a lot of people on the board have) actually begins to grate on me; but every time I actually interact with him, the coldness melts away. He is a very enjoyable person with which to converse verbally.

I don't think there's much insight I can provide for myself that others can't figure out. I'm consistently mercurial in my behavior; I overreact to most things; I am stubborn in my wrongness in many situations; I come across as arrogant even though I'm far from it. I have a very thin skin and I give up easily when it comes to anything on the board. I have never endeared myself with most everyone here.

The worst part, I would imagine, is how I'm uber self-deprecating.

I don't know where I stand on Johnbobb. I'm not a fan of how he frames his opinions; it's very IMDb in attitude. That said, as a person, I don't think he posts enough in gauntlet chat for me to have a good opinion. I would like to get to know him better because I know that my ridiculously suspicious mind paints people with negative angles until I feel closer to them. He seems like a very open and genial person, but he isn't around enough for me to get a good handle on him.

Chris once said that he and I were alike, and I think in some ways we are. Apparently when it comes to television we like and admire the same qualities in the characters we enjoy watching, and I think both of us love shows that are all about manipulation of words to achieve personal ends. But where I think I differ from Chris (I hope), is that I don't view loyalty as a quantifiable number to be tracked and scored. I am aware Chris has had some lows recently and I didn't stray too far into what those were. That's his business, and certainly not mine. Like I said, we are alike in a lot of ways, and for me that must breed a negative feedback loop because there are ways in which we do differ, and I think those differences make us intolerable to each other. I think Chris revels in being sly and outfoxing others while keeping them close. He wants to be a John Constantine. I love John Constantine, but what I actually want is to be a Blue Beetle. I'm happy to not achieve my ends if people geniunely like me. I think Chris' means to his ends help him reach my ends in an effort to reach his, and I think I'm not great at reaching my ends in general because of previously stated flaws in myself.

There probably could be more written here but that's a start.

I'll be the guy that kinda likes MWC. Don't get me wrong - his behavior for a great, great, GREAT many situations is wildly intolerable. And his politics are like, I don't know, so outside of the realm of me that I can't possibly imagine he can say the things he does and still keep a job. But with most users, I isolate their positives when everyone else is poking at their negatives. It's why I like charon for example. There was a time when he was very disliked, but what I saw was a human being that had a LOT of value. So I look at MWC and I see someone that doesn't know how to channel his passion constructively. I see someone who doesn't recognize how words can catalyze someone against him. I think he paints everything in the abstract to such an extent on this board that he doesn't see how concrete his words are interpreted. BUT! I think that beneath his volatility, he could be honed. I see someone that wants to be liked on the board, wants to be part of the community. So as a user, I'm torn because I'm a guy that wants to give and receive a million chances. In my own interactions with him, I can't say he's been anything but nice to me (outside of very, very early on in my board experience).

I think Full Throttle is a joke of a human being. His biased "journalism" is so shock jock and petty that I actually do think less of him than virtually any other person on this board. He also is incommunicative and therefore I have to assume based on his lack of conversation that he lacks critical thinking skills and cannot form an opinion outside of the gutteral and visceral "LIKE" or "DISLIKE". It's a caveman worldview. He has never been able to articulate anything about an issue outside of his disdain or... dis...disdain for it. So he uses ad hominem attacks in topic titles to paint his prejudice since he can't articulate why his opinion is what it is.

VeryInsane is interesting. I think it's hard to have an actual conversation with VI because he doesn't like actual conversations. I think I'm a person prone to drama and VI has a complete aversion to it. I think that makes him a great user for the board but not necessarily a great user for me. And there's absolutely no animosity there. I just think that if I wanted to have a serious conversation, I wouldn't go to him. But if I wanted to have a light and welcoming board experience (something we sorely lack thanks to people like me!), I would go to him for just that sort of interaction.

I think prof and I hit a low this last year which was really too bad. I like prof a lot. At least, I think I liked the prof that existed a year or so ago a lot. I think he's changed as a person and we don't click as much as we used to. It's sad, but we all are constantly works in progress and development, and I think that part of perpetual change is perpetual disappointment. I think my behavior disappointed him and he left gauntlet chat. I bear no ill will to him for his decision and I miss having him post; personally, I think Gauntlet is the poorer for it.

It's sad that being a girl is point of interest for a user, but when I literally never interact with someone, that's what it boils down to. For example, I never interact with Jeff Zero anymore and all I know about him now is that he sucks for not defending Dragon Age Inquisition when I most needed him.

Yes, but you see, I don't see charon the way you all see charon. Whatever began the anti-charon hatewagon years ago didn't get over with me because I wasn't here, and I can't watch it for 9.99 a month on the WWE Network. When I came to the board, I saw a guy who was welcoming to me in the Gauntlet crew (a decision he regrets once every three months :P). From there, I developed a real soft spot for the guy; he would be the first to admit that his life hasn't been daisies and daffodils from the get-go, and I think even now despite having a lot more happiness, he's still not where he could be. He's intelligent and passionate and really has an immutable sense of right and wrong. I think the latter trait has caused a lot of disconnect for him with the board because everything out of moderation is bad - it can turn into self-righteousness when he IS right or utter stubborness when he's wrong. I think what drew me to him is the fact that I admire loyalty and I like to see someone who really values friendship. That is charon in a nutshell. I think if you asked him the most important trait in a person, he would say loyalty. I think he also exhibits loyalty, but his downside is that if you fail to meet his standard (because we're all human), he sees it as an act of disloyalty and not a failure to meet a very high (nigh impossible) standard.

Charon at his best is someone who gives a shit, which is honestly something that most of the world should do. I like people who care. There aren't enough of them.

That WAS true.

It's amazing how petty I can be, and how slowly I forget slights. That is quite petty of ME. Se7en can be socially awkward at times, and I think he is like me in that he can get thrown off by negativity very quickly. What I like about Se7en is how open he is and how much he loves his nerdy culture. He really does. He embraces it and he wants to share it in a positive way. A lot of people use their nerd cred as a sign of superiority or exclusion, but Se7en just wants to be friend and share it with you. After his health scare recently, I really should have checked up on him in a PM and I didn't. I feel really bad about that. Nice guy.

There are days here and there that I just want to tell care that he sucks. But, his curmudgeonly attitude is something I do enjoy. He actually has a lot of positive passion but I think he channels his negative opinions so well that he almost revels in it. His best write-ups are always those lambasting things he hates. I think he has a harder time, however, succinctly explaining what he does like. I consider Karo a friend on this board, someone who's opinion I would always be open to hear in any situation. I do think, however, that he has a hard time being positive. Maybe it's because he's the "old man" (eh, Wickle?) of the group.

Almost skipped KCF!

KCF is actually fucking fantastic user. I really like this guy. That will probably come as a surprise to him, and I'm not saying he's a fantastic person, but as a user... this guy gets it. He does such a damn good job with his projects on the board. He's a great administrator and he participates actively in his projects in just the right amount. I think I would like to get to know him better, honestly. I don't know him hardly at all but he just seems like a hoopy frood who knows where his towel is.

So Pun is a user that is super-established as a top guy, but I can't figure out why. Much like Triple H, he's just been around a long time and seems to have friends in the right places. I've never been able to particularly see what he does that has warranted his reverence on the board, but that might just be because a lot of the old and established vets just don't really post that much. For example, Nick is virtually absent nowadays.

I never thought you hated me dude but I did find myself frustrated a few times as I tried to figure out how to interact with you properly when it was clear we had less than standard interactions. You're right though that I am pretty sensitive to negative criticism or negativity in general so I think it became too easy for us to run into misunderstandings since we share that trait.

I do appreciate that time and persistence has allowed us to gain a better understanding of each other dude. I still stand by my opinion that you are an important piece of the B8 pie and thank you for taking the time to entertain us here.
