The issue with McCoy is that his name isn't unique, so he doesn't jump to mind as immediately. Hell, even Bones as a name has been taken over by another character who is at this point more Bones than McCoy is.

Yeah after reading the OP I was like "Bib Fortuna as a Star Wars guy, that sounds familiar"

I still didn't recognize "McCoy" at all until you mentioned Bones, at which point I was like "oh it's the doctor from charon's contest" (I still don't know him outside that contest though)
