Capitalism is cyclical in nature, there are going to be booms and crashes no matter what anybody does. But yes, the booms reach higher (and more fragile) and the crashes hit lower due to bad consumerism.

If perfect consumerism could be achieved then capitalism would be a stable system but that is not realistic


Except that in the United States, we do not practice pure Capitalism. We have regulations and social policies that help stabilize this cyclical nature you're referring to.
