White flight from Memphis and, ironically despite it being middle class, low education. Northwest MS is a unique position of awful education, but a nepotism keeping uncultured, uneducated people in power. My ex got her PhD in Memphis and she even noted....the vibe is very different... in DeSoto county, which was her nice way of saying it was a little racist/uneducated.

I'm not trying to start an argument with you @BigOlePappy but;

One of my sisters is a teacher here and both my sisters have kids in school here and I can say from experience that the DeSoto County Schools have greatly improved. I think the misconception that the area is low educated comes from the belief that DeSoto County was where people came when they couldn't afford to go to Collierville or Germantown. We are the only School District in the Region where every High School has a fully funded arts education program, meaning art, drama, and music. Also every one of our public High Schools has their own Theatre for Performing Arts. You cant say that for too many school districts anymore. As far as the conception of "White Flight", everyone Black, White, Hispanic, or anything else is abandoning Memphis because the crime rate in Memphis has gotten out of control. Year after year the crime rate rises, heck even the police are fleeing, every year more and more police are leaving the MPD to go to different police departments. Last year Memphis was rated the fourth most dangerous city in America by Forbes. The thing keeping Memphis afloat is their Industry. Luckily unlike cities like Detroit, Memphis hasn't had a collapse in its job market.
