Anyone notice the Topic Title yet?

I tried to make it look like a radio dial

Huh. I hadn't noticed, but that actually is kinda neat.

Haven't had time to listen to the other two tracks to have any thoughts on them--nor do I have any real thoughts on mashups in general. I have nothing against them, but I also haven't heard many? They're a genre that I just haven't had any experience with.

I do have thoughts on my own nominations typed up and ready to go though!

I Feel Better Than James Brown

Ahh, this song. Back in 2005, I spent a lot of time listening to an 80s music station on the TV. There were two tracks that mesmerized me: "Once in a Lifetime" and THIS oddity. Once played on a regular basis, but this song... I think I may have only heard it on that station once? But it stuck with me. Years later, I tried tracking the song down, but it was not easy--I eventually found a link on YouTube. It was shortly deleted for copyright reasons and I lost the link again.

After deciding to nominate "Once in a Lifetime", I knew I had to nominate this song. This obscure, mysterious song that seemingly no one had ever heard of. Problem was, I couldn't recall too many details. I wanted to ask the topic if they knew what the name was, but I couldn't think of a way of describing it that didn't make me sound completely psychotic:

"I'm looking for this song that I heard on an all 80s station. They say they were all 80s, but they also included songs from '79 and '90. It's this surreal spoken word song, I don't think there was any singing (though there may have been background singers)? The song had a celebrity name in the title, like that Cher song I nominated "Just Like Jesse James" and I think there was something about Castro knocking out CIA agents by blowing gas out of his cigar? And the song is really obscure, but it did get an official music video, but YouTube keeps pulling the video everytime I find it--perhaps as part of a conspiracy to drive me insane."

When I tried to find it, the first links I would hit were to "Once in a Lifetime" (of course), Baz Luhrmann's "Everybody's Free to Wear Sunscreen", and "Paranomia" featuring Max Headroom. All good songs (I should thank Google for reminding me that Paranomia exists, I've listened to that song so many times this past month), but decidedly not what I was looking for.

Finally, I just Googled "Fidel Castro Mustard Gas Lyrics" and it actually found the song. And the music video was back up! It does exist! Yay!

...oh, I should talk about the song itself? It's weird.

Eh, I still like it. Not terribly surprised by the ranking, but still a fan anyway.
