when talking about "Asian", people that pop up in my heads are: Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, Japanese, Filipinos, Thai, Cambodian, Laotian, Indonesian. Basically the East and Southeast Asian countries.

What about Indians (from India)? Do you see them as Asian too?

My experience is that East and Southeast Asians see themselves as different from Indians and vice versa

Race is stupid, period.

I also think east asian (e.g. japanese, chinese) when I think Asian. Then I see Southeast Asian as Asian but different (e.g. Cambodian, Filipino), they're very obviously a distinct people. Then I see Indian, Bangladeshi, Nepalese, etc as yet another people, and not "Asian" in the same sense.

It's like "hispanic", it's a stupid term, speaking Spanish doesn't make you a race. And don't get me started about "white", a term from which people get admitted into and expelled left and right (just ask the Irish, Italians, Slavs and Hispanics)
