There's a statement from the MyAnimeList staff about the account freeze and password reset situation that began a couple of days ago. To summarize:

- The vulnerability that caused the situation is something that MAL's own staff can't directly deal with, and it's up to DeNA, the company that owns the site, to fix it. They're actively working on fixing the vulnerability, and until then, all 3rd-party MAL apps are non-functioning. The wording in the message suggests that no actual account data was leaked, hacked, or otherwise compromised from MAL's own site, but every account on the site was frozen as a precautionary measure.

- Even accounts made using now inaccessible e-mail addresses can still be recovered by contacting DeNA's customer support, or by contacting a MAL moderator on IRC/Discord. They provide links to these things in the post I linked to above. @FL81 and @Tropicalwood you guys can try this before you go making a new account.

- The MAL mod team hates this too. They're disappointed in DeNA for not handling the problem in a more timely manner, and they're just as frustrated about the account freezes and 3rd-party app troubles as us end users are. Please don't be mad at the site itself or any of the 3rd-party app developers for the trouble.
