People act like this is a huge deal and that doctors are waiting to harvest organs lmfao. Dumb.

i have no idea at a baseline who is and is not an organ donor nor do i care. Not my job to think about until youre on deaths door step. Truth is, anytime someone is young and critically ill or dying, the organ donation folks show up at the hospital per state protocols irregardless of whether you are or are not a registered organ donor. If you are registered, they tell your family that your wishes were to have your organs donated and If possible when the time comes we will try to respect your wishes and do so. If youre not registered, they will talk to your family about it and your surrogate decision maker might still choose to donate your organs even if you havent opted in, unless you have explicitly stated on paper or have otherwise said something to someone that you didnt want it done. Most folks end up donating something even if its just corneas. Not like organ donation comes up in casual conversation and when most folks are dying their families tend to think their loved one would have wanted to help other people

Ive never seen organ donation effect anyones care or effect an outcome and tbh and at the end of the day your surrogate decision maker still gets the make the final call when the plug gets pulled (unless youre so dead that the hospital staff thinks its unethical to keep your body living). Docs dont have much to do with the process and theres really only certain situations where i might change medications around to preserve the heart etc if someone is brain dead. Really just mostly unfounded fears in the anti organ transplant camp
