I won't be needing them. Throwing dead people in the dirt is such a waste. I'll donate my organs and the rest of me.

Nope, it puts you at risk of not receiving appropriate medical care in a critical situation. Doctors who want to play god will let you die if your harvested organs can save the lives of multiple people.

After working for ADA Services and listening to a baby boomer on dialysis tell the story why he loves the rain so much it gives me a reason why not to donate.

His reason being, Every time it rains I hope some young guy get into an accident and dies so I can get his organs so I can start drinking again

Though they claim if you sign up to donate they wont take your organs from you but if your in a coma you can have your organs harvested against your will to give to some rich baby boomer who destroyed his or her body from free love and rock n roll aka drugs, unprotected sex that gave the person a disease that destroyed their body, drinking until their organs started failing.

What the boomers wont tell you when they claim they are healthy and living a lifestyle everyone should emulate is that secretly they go to dialysis three times a week which gives them the appearance of health but they are technically on life support because if they miss their treatments their bodies are poisoned and they would be dead within weeks

Im against organ donation unless the family are compensated for the donation or your given money to be on the list

I don't want the doc letting me die so he can give someone else my organs. But realistically they usually don't bother harvesting the organs because they're short staffed and the drug addicts need their pain killers for being worthless trash.

Even if you're a donor the outside of your body is still fully intact so you won't look weird during the viewing/funeral.

It's true. Infowars did an excellent article on this while back, if I can find it I'll share it with you.

People act like this is a huge deal and that doctors are waiting to harvest organs lmfao. Dumb.

i have no idea at a baseline who is and is not an organ donor nor do i care. Not my job to think about until youre on deaths door step. Truth is, anytime someone is young and critically ill or dying, the organ donation folks show up at the hospital per state protocols irregardless of whether you are or are not a registered organ donor. If you are registered, they tell your family that your wishes were to have your organs donated and If possible when the time comes we will try to respect your wishes and do so. If youre not registered, they will talk to your family about it and your surrogate decision maker might still choose to donate your organs even if you havent opted in, unless you have explicitly stated on paper or have otherwise said something to someone that you didnt want it done. Most folks end up donating something even if its just corneas. Not like organ donation comes up in casual conversation and when most folks are dying their families tend to think their loved one would have wanted to help other people

Ive never seen organ donation effect anyones care or effect an outcome and tbh and at the end of the day your surrogate decision maker still gets the make the final call when the plug gets pulled (unless youre so dead that the hospital staff thinks its unethical to keep your body living). Docs dont have much to do with the process and theres really only certain situations where i might change medications around to preserve the heart etc if someone is brain dead. Really just mostly unfounded fears in the anti organ transplant camp

Yep. I work in a setting where I see patients who would be potential organ donors on a somewhat regular basis and can second everything that's been said here.

Docs don't "let" people die because of someone being or not being a registered organ donor - that's not how it works at all.
As has been said, when someone meets the criteria, we have to call organ donors people and then they talk to the family of the patient. Even if someone is already registered, they can't just go taking organs out of someone without permission of the family, so...

It's really disgusting and disheartening to see people who believe such blatant garbage about organ donation when it can and does save many lives - hopefully none of said people are ever in a position to make such choices for another person (and consequently, people).

Where are these churches that are going through so many organs that they need donations, anyway?

Sure am. Not like I'm going to need my organs once I'm dead.

Although I'd be very surprised if many of them are in useable condition... eyes probably will be, but that's about it, and I'm not entirely sure if they even can transplant those.
