Ive never seen organ donation effect anyones care or effect an outcome and tbh and at the end of the day your surrogate decision maker still gets the make the final call when the plug gets pulled (unless youre so dead that the hospital staff thinks its unethical to keep your body living). Docs dont have much to do with the process and theres really only certain situations where i might change medications around to preserve the heart etc if someone is brain dead. Really just mostly unfounded fears in the anti organ transplant camp

Yep. I work in a setting where I see patients who would be potential organ donors on a somewhat regular basis and can second everything that's been said here.

Docs don't "let" people die because of someone being or not being a registered organ donor - that's not how it works at all.
As has been said, when someone meets the criteria, we have to call organ donors people and then they talk to the family of the patient. Even if someone is already registered, they can't just go taking organs out of someone without permission of the family, so...

It's really disgusting and disheartening to see people who believe such blatant garbage about organ donation when it can and does save many lives - hopefully none of said people are ever in a position to make such choices for another person (and consequently, people).
