I'm actually serious in the sense that you should know better than to think as scum I would push anyone as "scum champion" like that, if I were scum and wanted to make a teammate look good I'd ignore them or tell them to bus me or call them scum with bad logic or something. My track record is nowhere near good enough for me calling someone town to actually make them look better.

Maybe later on in the game that's true, but surely not on Day 1?

It's the day where players have the least information and are most prone to making rash decisions based on things like "gut". Like, I have a good example from my own past games. I tried to hammer town Chris over scum Pj mostly because town Dels who I read as town told me to do it and I was not exactly in a stable mindset at the time. (I was a second late, then didn't hammer him in tiebreaker when I realized he never voted Pj to begin with, though... So that worked out.)

There's a higher margin for player error on day 1 than any other day in the game, and I don't think it's really that close either.
