Wow, sounds like Generic Democrat is gonna wipe the floor w/ Generic Republican

-_-

These polls are so fucking stupid and pointless. The only thing they ever seem to accomplish is to make the purported winning side feel complacent.
Uncork the fucking champagne the night of the election after the results have actually rolled in. Until then, there's work to be done.

Says the independent who's never gotten involved in election canvassing/drives/etc... But seriously Democrats, step the fuck up...

You're right, things can change, but generic ballot is historically a very solid indicator of what's to come.

It's not just that things can change. It's also that a nationwide popularity poll is an atrocious way to gauge Congressional races. House races are by district, with gerrymandering galore. And even Senate races can't be called by nationwide polling since it's 2 per state and some states (mostly blue) have way more people than other states (mostly red). Given that, Democrats pretty much need a significant vote lead overall to even have a chance of splitting Congress 50/50.
And it's also that there's no such thing as a "generic Democrat/Republican" and invariably in a lot of races one party will nominate a total scrub that grossly underperforms how s/he should do.
