They started as games first, but the Pokemon and Fire Emblem characters have anime all over them. Sonic never seemed like he would really fit to me. Snakes from an entirely different genre and nobody in the Smash series looks more out of place than Game & Watch. Goku would be one of the least weird non-Nintendo series picks they could make ...
