Even when I pull a rainbow, the thrill is fleeting because most times I don't really need the unit; it's just nice to have. It's why I poured everything into FFVIII, and will put a small chunk of resources into the upcoming banner to chase Shantotto, instead of hoarding for the next big meta unit. If I'm going to get a rainbow, I'd rather it be for a character I like, because at no point are the best units strictly required. They make things easier for sure, and I won't deny that I use some of them like CG Fina.
