Co-star and on-screen hubby John Goodman spilled the beans that Roseanne Barrs character will be killed off in the Roseanne-less spinoff, The Conners. I guess hell be mopey and sad because his wifes dead, Goodman told The Sunday Times of London about his character. ABC hasnt said how the script will reflect Rosennes departure. The network cancelled the Roseanne reboot earlier this summer after Barrs racist tweet, calling former Obama aide Valerie Jarrett, who is black, the offspring of the Muslim brotherhood & Planet of the Apes. In his interview, Goodman defended Barr. I know, I know, for a fact that shes not a racist, said Goodman whose own character Dan Conner was once killed off, only to be brought back through the magic of TV script writing. Barr, an enthusiastic supporter of President Trump, had a long history of making racist and conspiratorial comments before that Jarrett tweet cost her the show. Still, Goodman said he was surprised that ABC pulled the plug on Roseanne. I was surprised. Ill put it this way, I was surprised at the response, he said. And thats probably all I should say about it. Goodman admitted the cancellation sent him into a deep funk. I was broken-hearted, but I thought, OK, its just show business, Im going to let it go, he said. But I went through a period, about a month, where I was very depressed.
