https://globalnews.ca/video/4414438/roseannes-character-to-be-killed-off-in-the-connors-spinoff-john-goodman

Roseanne Conner is dead on her own TV show.

Co-star and on-screen hubby John Goodman spilled the beans that Roseanne Barrs character will be killed off in the Roseanne-less spinoff, The Conners.

I guess hell be mopey and sad because his wifes dead, Goodman told The Sunday Times of London about his character.

ABC hasnt said how the script will reflect Rosennes departure.

The network cancelled the Roseanne reboot earlier this summer after Barrs racist tweet, calling former Obama aide Valerie Jarrett, who is black, the offspring of the Muslim brotherhood & Planet of the Apes.

In his interview, Goodman defended Barr.

I know, I know, for a fact that shes not a racist, said Goodman whose own character Dan Conner was once killed off, only to be brought back through the magic of TV script writing.

Barr, an enthusiastic supporter of President Trump, had a long history of making racist and conspiratorial comments before that Jarrett tweet cost her the show.

Still, Goodman said he was surprised that ABC pulled the plug on Roseanne.

I was surprised. Ill put it this way, I was surprised at the response, he said. And thats probably all I should say about it.

Goodman admitted the cancellation sent him into a deep funk.

I was broken-hearted, but I thought, OK, its just show business, Im going to let it go, he said.

But I went through a period, about a month, where I was very depressed. Im a depressive anyway, so any excuse that I can get to lower myself, I will. But that had a great deal to do with it, more than I wanted to admit.

I actually came in here confused after reading the OP and was about to ask, didnt John Goodman die of a heart attack in Rosanne? I dunno, I never liked the show enough to keep track of it

There is technically 3-4 continuities. That's literally more than the MCU.

There is;
- The original series storyline. The Connors won the lottery, Dan survived his heart attack.
- The series finale storyline. The Connors didn't win the lottery, and Dan died. Becky is with David and Mark is with Darlene. Beverly is straight and Jackie is gay.
- The reboot stroyline. The Connors didn't win the lottery, Mark was with Darlene, Becky was with Mark, Beverly is gay, Jackie is straight, and Dan didn't die from his heart attack.
- The reboot reboot storyline. Roseanne is dead. This might actually just be a continuation of the latter, though, it's not clear yet.

Just so you know, a "reboot" is when something starts over again from the beginning, but with a new storyline. It's not a continuation.

I mean, technically, it could be a reboot, since it means restarting something, regardless of if it's a continuation or not, but it doesn't really matter. What would you call it? A continuation?

Er, yeah. I meant to say it IS a continuation.

Like with 2005 Doctor Who. It's not a reboot. It's not starting over from scratch and acting like the previous stuff never happened. It's continuing from it.

But continuation doesn't work either, nor does sequel, because as I mentioned, it actually does throw out both possible continuities the show ended on.

I'd say continuation sort of works. The best example of a reboot is "Batman Begins" which is what started this whole reboot thing, being something brand new and starting over, with no continuation from Schumaker's stuff. We could call the new Rosanne stuff an "alternate universe" kind of thing.

Yeah, but again, it's not a continuation. It throws out all the possible combinations of story developments. I looked up the definition of reboot and it pointed out it was reworking a new story by throwing out the old continuity, which is sort of what Roseanne did.

Of course, in most cases, you are totally right, but I think that Roseanne is a bit of special case because of how it nonchalantly throws around continuity so flagrantly.

She is certainly never coming back after what she pulled. Not to this show, anyway. ABC won't risk that.

I think these companies overestimate how much people care. People are jobless, looking for ways to pay their Bill's, dealing with medical insurance, dealing with their kids school, trying to take their kid to soccer practice, trying to deal with uncle john's alcohol problem, etc

I seriously doubt anybody's losing sleep over what Roseanne is doing on tv and twitter

i'm not a fan of racist tweets, particularly directed at my own racial demographic (black)
but Valerie Jarrett is part black in the lightest sense of the word...

for real, she practically looks white like Shaun King

if Roseanne didn't study up on who she was roasting on twitter, its no wonder she might have have mistook Jarret as a white chick
i never even liked Roseanne's shows, but i can admit as an anti-Trump liberal the criticism towards her over that tweet is a bit overboard

seems more like a bunch of people couldn't wait to close the coffin on her career cause she was bitchy and outspokenly pro-Trump, buryin her over that tweet was just convenient

What a load of crap, what killed the show and her career wasn't just the racist tweet, it was her crazy response to it, it was her constantly being warned by her fucking bosses to stop doing that but that wasn't good enough for her, no, she had to start blaming pills that don't cause what she did, she had to immediately walk back her apology and double down saying it's liberals fault and finally, she had to constantly go on alt right shows saying how the unfair liberal fake news media turned everyone against her. It's as bullshit as Tim Allen complaining about Last man standing being gone was a liberal hit job because conservatives love being victims and being told nothing is there fault, the same thing they accuse liberals of being, it's disgusting and hypocritical yet they can't get enough of it, just like their stupid god emperor.

The show aired for 9 years and then came back for another one. I imagine he and the cast members were pretty close friends back then and getting back together was a lot of fun. To suddenly have that wiped out would bum pretty much anyone out. Also, as he said, he's prone to depression which can be set off by completely irrelevant shit.

thats kinda how i feel about it, although i think to a lesser extent she's got some racist beliefs somewhere
its not uncommon for Americans even if they don't say it in public, especially comedians

but in the case of her tweet flaming Valerie Jarrett, it just looks more like Roseanne wasn't aware that Jarrett was part black causing a trolly tweet to be more offensive than intended

nobody would blink an eye at a white chick gettin compared to an ape
so a seasoned comedian like Roseanne would see that as a safe target, but she fell for that trap card lol

like its not the first time she's made a stupid tweet like that and probally not the first time she said something racially offensive
but i just don't believe Roseanne thought she was roastin a black woman with that tweet

Jarrett can be easily mistaken for a generic white person because her skin is so pale...
