I applied to every major place around here.

Anyways, this year I've applied to like 6 or 7 places.

WTF

It is September, and you have only applied to 6-7 places in the entire year? That's less than one per month. You're not trying hard enough to get a job. You're not trying nearly hard enough. You should be applying to 6-7 places per week if you really want to get a job sometime this decade.

You certainly have not applied to "every major place" if you have only applied to 6-7 places. Job hunting is a full time job in itself. If you aren't spending many hours per day looking for a job, then you're not trying hard enough.

Job hunting is a pure numbers game. Send out 100 resumes, and you will get maybe 10 interviews out of that. Out of those 10 interviews, you will get maybe 2-3 job offers.

Also, if you want to be an animator, then you should be looking to get an internship in animation. You shouldn't be looking for a retail job. You don't need the skills for an internship. You learn the skills while doing the internship. The internship will also help you find a full time job in animation later. People who go to college and get a degree but never do an internship can have a hard time finding a job because while they may have a degree, they don't have the practical experience from working in the field through an internship. So don't get a retail job. Get an internship instead.

You hate driving so you want a job close to you? Well, you do realize that you aren't likely to find an animation job near you, right? You also really just need to get over your fear. The only way to succeed in life is by getting out of your comfort zone, and for you that likely means getting over your fear of driving. People who don't get out of their comfort zone will never be successful. These are the people who end up working shitty retail jobs their entire lives.

So...what do you do for a living?

I'm an accountant. Why?

Just trying to get some ideas as to what to get into I guess.
