IIRC yes, at the very least The Sorrow is still actually supernatural.

The whole thing peeves me because all this pseudo-science does nothing to enhance anything that it's explaining. Like the borderline mystic nature of The End isn't made any better by saying his powers come from stuffing himself full of bugs. The entire Cobra Unit is cool because they're just weird people who can do weird things, they don't need to be anything more - honestly they feel diminished if you try to take their mysterious air away from them.
