It's not like America isn't completely controlled by the 1% with token concessions just to keep the illusion of the old republic afloat. In theory, you could have a dictator that is more fair. I bet if a military coup happened and Trump was hanged, it'd create a lot of mixed feelings.

Benevolent absolute rulers are like 1 out of 100 at best.
