We already spend more federal dollars per capita on healthcare than any other country. There's no reason to spend that much and not have universal coverage. The solution isn't raising taxes and spending more money. The solution is fundamental reform of the system itself.

I feel like we'd have to be more assertive about things like malpractice lawsuits too. Those are part of what drive up costs of healthcare (malpractice insurance). How do you prevent people from making petty malpractice claims?


I'd say at least half the expensive tests we order are just to avoid lawsuits.
