The number leads nowhere, that shit should be illegal.

Extremely.

You do have to admit having open borders is, at best, iffy. The European Union is struggling with that, they're a good template for what to expect.

It's like having designer brands. If everyone can afford $5000 Gucci products (good private healthcare), then I am not going to be special anymore /s

Eliminating private health insurance and making it to where every citizen can get health related care? That fucking monster. Evil incarnate. Worse than Hitler/Stalin/Khan/Mao combined.

Going bankrupt due to an unexpected medical emergency is the American way! What's more important, citizens being able to get healthcare or some CEO being able to buy a 3rd yacht and 4th summer home? The nerve of that Nancy Pelosi!

Isn't that more down to a mix of overly meticulous procedure and apathy?

Personally I'm okay with free healthcare as long as the physicians providing care can be paid accordingly for their skills. It's not easy to become a doctor and it's very costly, the career itself should reflect that.

Choose one. Either its free and garbage, or you pay and its good, there is no way you are going to pay people in the healthcare field enough to deal with the current population if healthcare is "free".

And by free, we mean paid for with taxes, so not free.

It's pretty disingenuous to call it free in the first place.

For example, our taxes are already being used to pay for Healthcare we just don't see any of it unless we're poor or old. So I don't see why it's so bad to ask that we cover everyone.

The rest of the industrialized world has universal healthcare and this dilemma really doesn't seem to be coming up there.

Universal coverage isn't the problem. The problem is that our healthcare system is grossly inefficient and overpriced. We already spend more federal dollars per capita on healthcare than any other country. There's no reason to spend that much and not have universal coverage. The solution isn't raising taxes and spending more money. The solution is fundamental reform of the system itself.

I feel like we'd have to be more assertive about things like malpractice lawsuits too. Those are part of what drive up costs of healthcare (malpractice insurance). How do you prevent people from making petty malpractice claims?

Because the current Republican base is primarily (not entirely) composed of two demographics

1) Old white boomers scared of uppity minorities, clinging to their bibles

2) Incels who despise women, liberals, minorities, anything they can band together and feel superior to

Edit: Okay, and 3) moderate conservatives too chickenshit to do anything about the party catering almost entirely to the first two groups

You don't think $500 for a single asprin is fair? You must be one of those weirdos who like the communist, fascist, Kenyan, Muslim, space alien Obama!

But you're right. We need effective regulation to prevent the blatant price-gouging hospitals practice on a daily basis. I once paid a doctor $40 co-pay to sit in an office for three hours only to see an RN who did absolutely nothing for me. The current system is a perversion of capitalism.

The last group is really the most unpleasant. Asshats and racists will be as they are but if intelligent, albeit tame, voters are just siding with that crap then they are the ones responsible for making the nation worse.
