Choose one. Either its free and garbage, or you pay and its good, there is no way you are going to pay people in the healthcare field enough to deal with the current population if healthcare is "free".
And by free, we mean paid for with taxes, so not free.
The rest of the industrialized world has universal healthcare and this dilemma really doesn't seem to be coming up there.
