Obviously this is not exactly the same thing as affirming what previous courts have decided, but it is a tentatively optimistic step in the right direction. I still think Roberts himself is enough to stop these things since I do not think he wants that big of a decision being overturned, but I still think this ruling makes me cautiously, tentatively optimistic. Kavanaugh knows he is being watched & the last thing he wants to happen is give Democrats enough political capital to impeach & remove him. We may have taken a conservative judge & forced him to judge in the middle because he was so thoroughly dressed down during his confirmation hearings. Had Republicans kept the house at minimum, he would gladly be a Republican stooge right now.
